Wedding Date? I need help!

Okay, here’s the deal. We have decided that we like the Bellhurst and if we did it anywhere else and had it catered, it might be just as expensive if not more for what we are doing. BUT, every Saturday from July through October is taken. We liked Labor Day weekend, but that Sunday is taken also. So no matter what we do, I am looking at a Friday or Sunday wedding. How does everyone feel about Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 (which is Labor day). It would make for a long weekend for everyone and the day is available. Plus, either way you look at it, people traveling would have to take a day off (either Friday or the follwong day after the weekend). This wouldn’t affect anyone back at home though.

The plan is this: We could use the entire weekend to get things prepared. Sunday would be a huge rehearsal dinner picnic with all attendees of the wedding invited. We plan to have a pig roast (which I believe David’s family said they will cover) and David’s mom (with David’s help) will do a lot of cooking. This way we might get a little of the Puerto Rican culture intermixed through the food! I thought maybe my family, David and I, could possibly splurge for clams to do a clam bake, we could do hotdogs, and everyone could bring a dish to pass. We thought this would be a lot of fun for everyone involved (not to mention cheaper than having everyone to dinner somewhere). Then Monday would be a late ceremony (undetermined where as of yet b/c David is not confirmed, so possibly at the Bellhurst unless confirmation doesn’t matter to be married in the church) and followed by decadent horsduevres and cocktails in their new ballroom.

What does everyone think? I don’t want people traveling to be upset, but at this point I am kinda limited on dates. Please let me know what everyone thinks, because we would like to book as soon as possible.

I agree with Nana…..sorry but I guess I have to say my day at the farm was as great as anything going…….believe me much less stress, kids would enjoy more…..make it a HUGE Hawaiian event! That’s just my opinion…..

The Emerson Park sight I think will give you and your guests what I know you are looking for. Both are nice and unfortunately it always comes down to price!

Hope everyone is cool with the Monday. It’s a little unconvenional but maybe will give a less stressed feel to that weekend.

Okay, now we are back to Emerson Park again… Oh Boy. Mom says she went to see it yesterday and she thinks I will like it better, plus we will not get nickel-and-dimed to death on corkage fees and cake cutting prices (.$75). She got the price for a cateror and it is cheaper than the Belhurst, so that may be what we do… but who knows, the story changes weekly.

Also, I’m thinking I like the Monday b/c my mom talked to the other side of the family and there are people on that side that can come on Monday that wouldn’t be able to if it was on the weekend b/c they work (my Uncle Jef).

So please let me know right away if this will cause a conflict for anyone…

The farm is not booked on that Sunday. Sounds like a good idea and it will give people a better chance to get to know each other than if you are sitting at a restaurant. Also you can have kids there without a problem.
