Finally…some red tomatoes!


Made cucumber salad, Greek salad, homemade salsa, scalloped tomatoes…


Using up other things (carrots, leeks, celery, garlic) made homemade chicken stock. Getting ready for first full week of work and kids coming back to school.

    Makes me miss my garden! Good looking veg you got there! I’m still eating mostly plant-based and love it. I just joined a group called Backyard Produce and I’m going to get a box delivered to my house each week with local, seasonal items. EXCITED!!!

    One thing you can try with our maters… I made Bloody Mary stewed tomatoes a few weeks ago for breakfast and they were amazing! I used Romas b/c they don’t fall apart easily, but I did Bloody Mary mix (planning to make my own next time…. was in a pinch so used pre-made), garlic, a couple pickled jalepeno slices, some Worcestershire, some celery salt, some finely diced olives… then slowly cook slices of tomato in the mixture until they very soft and the sauce thickens. I served with eggs and wished I had country bread to sop up every bit of sauce. WAS DIVINE! If I make it this week, I’ll try to write down the recipe.
