Simple Life…

Ralph was a simple man, a farmer. He pinched his pennies, ate from the dollar menu (a simple hamburger), coffee, cigarettes (yuck) and cards filled his life. He got excited over grits and pepper mint candy. He loved John Deere tractors and still owned his 1949 A model tractor. Last night at the wake- hundreds of people came- farmers in the coveralls, people from the Swiss Lodge, Lions club, family and friends. Here was this simple man surrounded by so much love- should we all be able to have the same in our lives.I think I’d take a simple life.
A simple life is all about choices. Choices like:
– living in the country rather than the city
– dining in rather than dining out
– renting a movie rather than going to a theater
– finding your passion rather than working at a job
– living within your means rather than spending as a means to escape reality
– questioning your ‘needs’ rather than just buying your ‘wants’
– buying used articles or products rather than buying new
– making your gifts rather than buying gifts
– enjoying the simple things in life rather than taking them for granted!
Funny how death makes you contemplate your life.

I agree, a simple life is one that we can all enjoy. I hope to do the same.

Beautiful sentiments and beautiful picture. Sounds like Ralph had the right idea about life (except the cigarettes) and its funny how sometimes you don’t get this epiphany till you get older in life. I think Clyde is a pretty great place to live and everyone should find their passion. (It’s great if you get paid for it!) It’s a crisp fall day in upstate NY and they have forecast snow!
