Last night Linda was admitted into the emergency room for SVT.
Supraventricular tachycardia is also called atrial tachycardia or SVT. It is a very fast heart rate of 140 to 250 beats per minute (normal is about 70 to 80 beats per minute). You need to go to the hospital where they will give medicine through an IV tube to “stop” your heart and let it start again in it’s normal beat. There is a possibility she could “crash” (this made me feel warm and fuzzy) but the doctor said it was rare- she spent several hours hooked up to an IV and I picked her up after class. She is on a monitor where they will track her heart beat- they can treat this with medication but they like to try and figure out what the “triggers” are. All I can say is…scary.

Say a quick prayer to keep her safe.

She goes back to her doctor tomorrow- she has an upper respiratory infection and they think the medication she was taking triggered the attack. She is feeling better and will let you know if anything different is found Friday. Thanks for all your good wishes and prayers.

Linda – I think you just heard I finally called Karen back!!!!! Anyway I am thinking of you. I had the ame thing happen to me when I was pregnant with Mattie. They could give me an IV but they put me on special medication. Never could figure out what triggered it but once it went away after she was born we just assumed the pregnancy. Nonetheless it is scary you think you are having a heartattack. We are all saying a prayer here and thinking of you. Love ya.

Please tell Linda that we love her and she is in our thoughts and prayers. I cannot believe this hit so suddenly and I am so sorry that you both had such a scare. I hope everything will be okay. My old boss had some problems (I’m not sure if they are similar) but they had her on all types of meds and I was with her twice when she had attacks. She would have a hard time breathing and collapsed on us twice one night when we were out in Henrietta. It was very scary! It had something to do with her heart, but I cannot remember the specifics. She used to carry those patches (starts with an "n", I think) with her that are supposed to help. I know that she was advised to stay away from coffee. Don’t know if any of this helps, but you never know… Please send my love!!!

I think she is getting to excited about our arrival!! Tell her that it is still a couple weeks away and she is going to have to control her excitement. Either that or when I get there I will have to whip her into shape!! Please let her know that we are thinking of her and to rest and take care of herself!! xoxo
