Last night Linda was admitted into the emergency room for SVT.
Supraventricular tachycardia is also called atrial tachycardia or SVT. It is a very fast heart rate of 140 to 250 beats per minute (normal is about 70 to 80 beats per minute). You need to go to the hospital where they will give medicine through an IV tube to “stop” your heart and let it start again in it’s normal beat. There is a possibility she could “crash” (this made me feel warm and fuzzy) but the doctor said it was rare- she spent several hours hooked up to an IV and I picked her up after class. She is on a monitor where they will track her heart beat- they can treat this with medication but they like to try and figure out what the “triggers” are. All I can say is…scary.
Say a quick prayer to keep her safe.
