The DiSanto's Posts

Hello family, I’m back at RIT now. Thought I’d finally getting around to posting something up here. School is school, but it is good to be back. I’m going to have a busy quarter searching for jobs (let me know if you hear of anything, anywhere in web design)… not looking forward to that, but I’m still settling in. I’m slow to move in (I hate unpacking) mostly because I know I’m moving in three months and will have to pack it all again. Now I have to answer the question… do I need it until then? Not an easy thing to answer…

Anyways, I had an interesting thing to share for the new family debate. Just about every class I’ve had so far (with the exception of one) the lecture was interrupted by at least one cell phone. Now, I have a cell, I love the thing and hate it. But common, there are times when you need to shut it off! I think they are a very good technology and come in handy many times, but people abuse the privilege. I’ve even had a professor (last spring) that had had the phone ring, and they have then excused themselves for 10 min while talking on it in front of the class! Now, do you honestly expect the professor to allow a student to interrupt class and have him pause the lecture for him to finish his conversation… I think not, so why should it be expectable for them! Bo and I this summer were giggling at stories in the paper about people on their phones. I actually got to encounter the “bathroom chat” at a bar here in Rochester. “Hi, I’m peeing, so I’d thought I’d call??” Why would a person want to do that?? Especially in a public restroom. Being the victim of a bathroom call, first you have to wonder, are their two people in that stall? Then you realize that only one person is talking… unbelievable…

bear (157k image)Delaney Talks to Statues
Delaney talks to statues
As she dances ’round the pool
She chases cats through roman ruins
And stomps on big toadstools
She speaks a language all her own
That I cannot discover
But she knows I love her so
When I tuck her ‘neath the covers
Father, daughter
Down by the water
Shells sink, dreams float
Life’s good on our boat
Delaney draws me pictures
She finger paints the sand
We chase the dogs and hop like frogs
Then I do my bad handstand
She’s growing up too fast for me
And asking lots of questions
Some I know the answers to
And some I’m looking for suggestions
Father, daughter
Born by the water
Surf’s up, sun’s down
Life in a beach town
And some of the things I’ve seen
Maybe she won’t have to see
But there’s a lot I want to pass along
That was handed down to me
Delaney talks to statues
As she dances ’round the pool
She chases cats through Roman ruins
And stomps on big toadstools
She speaks a language all her own
Just a little like her mother
And she knows I love her so
When I tuck her ‘neath the covers
Father, daughter
Down by the water
Shells sink, dreams float
Life’s good on our boat.

This is the bear I got for Delaney- yes I’ll get it in the mail before she is born. Hope the shower was wonderful- I’ll post pictures as soon as I receive some (hint hint).

First off congratulations to Kristen, I am very proud of you. It is about the time those ignorant people t IR realized how important you are to the organization.

I am sorry I have not been on this site in awhile, but I have been consulting for the government the last few weeks and my time has been completely bogged down.

It did pay off, though, on Friday I landed the largest order that my company has gotten in Jacksonville in over twn years!! With the US Navy I received a contract for over $300,000. To put it in perspective, the gentleman I replaced sold $250,000 all of last year!

I jus wanted to pass on the good news as it has resulted in a lot of compliments and votes of confidence that I am being considered “the solution” to all of the problems that my company has had in Jacksonville.

To all of you who sometimes think that it is impossible to get ahead without being corrupt, this is proof that you can make it by working hard!

Sorry for the delay in writing in and updating what has been happening at Casa Carroll. We have been busy trying to get all the outdoor items completed before the weather changes. We completed the extension on the driveway this week and we are hoping to get the sprinkler system in this next week. Then we just have to airate and seed the lawn and we are going to call it quits for this year. Next we move on to Delaney’s room. We have everything picked out, so we should be able to move along quickly. This is a project we can do when the weather get crappy, so we didn’t rush to get it started. Other then that we have been attending family reunions on the Carroll side and finalizing baby stuff like classes, etc. Buffy is doing great. She is getting excited to go to the beach!! We are going for a long weekend to Myrtle Beach and we usually take her along for this trip. She loves to body surf in the waves. It’s fun because we get to swim with her!! She also loves going to Uncle Jerry’s and see her brother and daddy!! Bob has been working his hinney off trying to get as much done as possible. He takes any work he can get right now, so we can pay to complete these projects. He goes to Baltimore the 1st weekend in September to play softball with the firemen, so he is looking forward to that. A little time away to play!! Then he will get to enjoy the time as a family in MB. That’s the trip where we take it easy and really relax! I’m very excited about my shower this weekend. I can’t wait to see everyone and be able to hang out.

“I wish you could have been there for the sun & the rain & the long, hard hills. For the sound of a thousand conversations scattered along the road. For the people laughing & crying & remembering at the end. But, mainly, I wish you could have been there.” Brian Andreas

Hard to believe that 32 years ago mama died. Each day I miss her more and the void she left never seems to diminish or fade. I loved this lady and wish she could be here.

“Breaking the Hold of Routine”

The “comfort zones” of life are defined in large measure by our habits. Question the living patterns of your week. How much of your time is spent mundanely because you are too lazy to do something different? Are you learning from each day? Does each day hold any special significance? Prioritize the things that fulfil you most. Build them into the pattern.
