New feature…

On the side bar is a new entry- FAMLY FITNESS (a work still in progress). I hope we can encourage each other to get fit and healthy. We can post goals- long term like Karen or short term like Kim. If we blog once a week on a given day we can report our progress- it might be 5 pounds lost or 45 minutes exercised. We can provide information to help us reach our goal. I hope Kris will provide exercise tips and Erin recipes.
Input welcome- let me know if you want to participate with us- come on- let’s get fit together!

Kris is right my Dr. said it is simple so many calories in- so many worked off equals weight. Doesn’t matter what diet you are on- this is why weight watchers works for me cause a portion control and measure everything. I have done well so far- watching the food and walking- we did 20 minutes up hills today- now I just have to get the heart monitor worked out (had it on backwards today!).

I will be glad to help any one out who wants it – my goal is to get the last 10 or so pounds off and sculpt my muscles (so I have strength when I’m old and gray or right now so I can punch some lights out if you know what I mean!) I have lost 5 pounds so far. Linda my trainer has to take my measurements because I am more into the sculpting than losing the weight but had too to trim down the love handles!

Tip#1 for you Beth – first get onto and do the calorie counter to see how many calories you would take in to stay at the current weight you are at – then you need to take 500 calories out per day off of that. That can mean a walk – depending on how fast you go and how long anywhere from 100-300 calories, cut back on some foods, check out my book I gave you for fast food nutritional info so you know how many calories you are taking in when you eat out. You can do it on the go you just have to educate yourself on the real amount of calories you are taking in each day and slowly reduce it.

Tip#2 – for you Erin – since you are basically eating healthy excercise is probably what you need to add however I would check out the same link as Beth just so you know how many calories you should be eating per day to maintain your current weight. At the end of the day you have to burn more calories than you take in – that is the key – no magic and nothing else will change that – no fad diets etc.

I hope that helps you. I have learned so much my head is going to burst. Unfortunately I have to put off my certification until I get through this court thing with Mike but I am full of knowledge to help everyone and you don’t have to pay me like a personal trainer!!! Good luck to all.

Long term goal, to be in a sz. 14, short term goal: those 6 pounds I gained in New Orleans. I exersize plently, my problem is eating habits. I’m always on the go and get food out too much.

Actually, I need to lose 5-10 stubborn pounds. I’m eating well but they just won’t come off. Need to start exercising. Put me down for 8 lbs and we’ll see what happens.

Oh, yeah, You could add the recipe section from Whole Foods Market. Nothin’ like organic food to make you feel good! And their recipes are great! Try the hummus! Their Pico de gallo is my favorite (it’s a chunky salsa – don’t know if it is on the website or not). Maybe it can be submited for the recipe of the week since so many people have their gardens growing. Yum, Yum. I just made some last week!
