Need a little help for Jonathan Ozimek

I’m looking for people to say some heavy prayers and really search for some spiritual healing for my best friend’s brother. About 6 years ago, Jonathan Ozimek was diagnosed with Non-Hotchins Lymphoma, which eventually started to turn to pre-leukemia. He was in the hospital non stop. Vanessa and I visited him often when we were in college (he was 14-15 years old at the time). Vanessa went through a bone marrow transplant to help her brother and all seemed well.

He is now 20 years old and has been in remission for the past 4 years, while studying at Brockport to be an oncologist in pediatrics (since that’s what he went through). Well, he was admitted to Strong Memorial hospital last Sunday with a very bad viral infection in his lungs because he was puking up blood, etc. Come to find out, the cancer is back and his poor little body doesn’t have the white blood cells to fight off the infections. He is currently in a drug-induced coma, breathing from a respirator, and fighting for his life. He has had some pretty rough days and will have a very, very slow recovery. His family has been there every step of the way, praying for his quick recovery. Vanessa is scheduled for some pretty intensive blood work to help her brother and said she is prepared to go through another bone marrow transplant, if that’s what is necessary (although they haven’t said anything to that extent yet). While Jonathan is in this coma, they are going to start some very low doses of chemo to get rid of the few abnormal cells they have found in his bone marrow.

I am trying my best to gather as many people as I can to say their prayers to help Jonathan Ozimek. I hope that by posting it on the web, not only my family will help, but others too! Jonathan is a sweetheart and his entire family has a heart of pure gold. The entire time Jonathan has been sick I never saw him frown or even utter the words, “Why me?” If there was ever someone that I could look up to, it would be him for the struggle that he’s battled and the way he has handled it. Please pray for his recovery and strength for his family. Please pray that the hospital can get the cancer and that Jonathan can battle it. The more of us who ban together, the better chances he may have. I know that not everyone is religious, but please keep their family in your thoughts and in your heart.

If anyone needs to contact his family or send something to help, he is at Strong Memorial Hospital in the Pediatric Wing in Rochester, NY. His name again is Jonathan Ozimek.

Please send your support and prayers…

Erin – I will pray very hard. I have a few people around here who are struggling with the same and its heart wrenching. Sometimes I take for granted how lucky I am to have healthy children. You can count on me and the girls.

Erin- I’m so sorry to hear the struggle your friend and her family, esp her brother is enduring. As you know, my friend Cyndy’s husband Jon has been battling Cancer for a few years now. The prayers do help both the victim and the family and lend a lot of strength. Know that we are thinking of you and will have them in our prayers!! Miss you- bummer.

A recent, controversial study of cardiac patients conducted at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, concludes that this type of prayer — known as intercessory prayer — may indeed make a difference. "Prayer may be an effective adjunct to standard medical care," says cardiac researcher William Harris, Ph.D., who headed the St. Luke’s study. The study was published in the October 25, 1999 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.

    Erin, you got it!
