Live like you were dying…

“He said I was in my early 40’s, With a lot of life before me,
And a moment came that stopped me on a dime.
I spent most of the next days, lookin’ at the x-rays,
Talkin’ ’bout the options and talkin’ ’bout sweet time.
Asked him when it sank in, that this might really be the real end.
How’s it hit ya, when you get that kind of news. Man what ya do.
And he says,

I went sky divin’, I went rocky mountain climbin’,
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull name Fumanchu.
And I loved deeper, And I spoke sweeter,
And I gave forgiveness I’ve been denying,
And he said someday I hope you get the chance, To live like you were dyin’.

He said I was finally the husband, That most the time I wasn’t.
And I became a friend a friend would like to have.
And all the sudden goin’ fishing, Wasn’t such an imposition.
And I went three times that year I lost my dad.
Well I finally read the good book, And I took a good long hard look at what I’d do
If I could do it all again. And then.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you’ve got eternity To think about what you do with it,
What could you do with it, what can I do with with it, what would I do with it.

Sky divin’, I went rocky mountain climbin’,
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull name Fumanchu.
And I loved deeper, And I spoke sweeter,
And I watched an eagle as it was flyin’.
And he said someday I hope you get the chance, To live like you were dyin’.”

We are given so many days and moments- make them count.

It is so easy to put off until tomorrow- forget the call, the card, the kind words because we always think there is time. I think Lu has brought it home that we have limited time and we need to remember to do those things today- especially for those we love. And we are so blessed to have such a close family we take for granted how special they are.
To my family- I love you and will make a better effort to tell you and send my cards on time, to spend time with you and photograph ALL of you and not just the little people (though it’s hard to take the camera off them!). I too Thank God every day for my life- I am truly blessed.

I love this song — they play it all the time down here and it does bring so much into perspective. With all the hardsips we’ve gone through in the last year or two, it hits home each time. It has made me try to look at each day in a new light. If it is a beautiful day and it makes me smile, I honesty take 2 seconds to thank God. I don’t want life to pass me by and I want to experience everything that I can! I think everyone needs to hear this song by Tim McGraw and really take a second thought about what life means. Don’t take it for granted. Thanks for posting the lyrics La, b/c I really love this song. It seems rather fitting at the moment.
