During our trip to New York City, David had a little surprise for me. He asked me to be his wife and I said, “YES!” This picture was taken by our horse and buggy guide after we told him the fabulous news! David is holding my hand showing the ring.
THE STORY: We arrived in NYC on Dec. 23 around 10 p.m. We hurried to Rockefeller Center to go skating at the ice rink. David had planned to propose to me on the ice, but as we waited in line for our skates, someone else proposed to their girlfriend. I thought it was so sweet; little did I know at that point that David had planned the same thing! So we skated and had a blast taking pictures. After it was all done, we left Rockefeller Center on a romatic horse and buggy ride. At about 12:30 a.m., David dropped his chapstick and kneeled down to pick it up. He turned to me with a box in his hand and asked me if I would marry him!!! I said yes and cried my eyes out because I was so happy!
On Christmas Eve morning, we went back to Rockefeller Center at 6 a.m. to try to get on the Today Show. We had on Christmas hats and a sign that said, “Will Erin Marry Me? She said YES!” After three hours in the rain, the weather lady came over to us and introduced us as the “newly engaged couple” and asked us to kiss (because I was wearing mistletoe on my hat). So, in front of millions of viewers, we announced our engagement!!! Almost every one of my family, friends, and co-workers saw it.
These were the happiest two days of my entire life!
