    A suggestion for all – don’t use the scale so literally. I weigh myself a lot but only to keep myself under control – I don’t pay attention to the actual numbers. Beth is right – muscle weighs more than fat. Until recently my scale didn’t budge because I was focussing on muscle – no I am concentrating on losing that last nasty 10 pounds so I am doing a lot of cardio and its moving however more importantly I had Linda my trainer take measurements. We will be checking them next week to see if I have sculpted them. Some people get too discouraged if the scale doesn’t budge if thats you only weigh in once a week – if you don’t and feel good that you didn’t gain at all then weigh in more often.

    TYou are going to get discouraged – it happens but to all of you – you are paying a attention and you have lost some – its a hell of a big jump than where you were a few weeks ago right? You have started – the biggest defeat you can have is giving up and watching the scale go the other way. That hasn’t happened and that in itself is a success.

    Remember it has taken me almost 4 years to get where I am now but it will stay this way because I know how to live my life now to be active and fit – it is gradual but worht every step. Please believe me and don’t give up.

    PS – its okay to overindulge from time to time – its called enjoying life – you know your are on the right track when you recognize it and pull in the reins. That is the key to success.

    My scale is all screwed up – that’s hwat I get for buying a cheapie at Walmart. I have it set 5-10 lbs. higher than the 0 and it is still off from when I go to the doc. I guess I need a better one.

    I agree with Sue, the scales lie. The trouble is, when you are fit, you also build muscle, so the weight can be heavier. I did however, according to the scale, lose 3 pounds. We do not own a scale here at home, so I weigh myself at Lydia’s.

    I refuse to weigh myself. I am relying on how my clothes fit and though I have a long way to go…. I love the new job…. I have no time to stop to eat and I am walking quite a bit. God it feels good to get back into LIFE again after three very long years.

    OKay, me bad. I may need to add more lbs. to lose. I had my Harry Potter party and ate cookies and tortilla chips and salsa. Then last night I went and had chicken wings and potato wedges at Buffalo Wind Wings b/c it was late. I did hike up a mountain and did some major sweating with Kris though. So I have to get back to a better plan. Hmmmm…
