Friend on Bedrest… Need ideas

I just found out that my friend Michelle is on bedrest with her pregnancy (baby not due until Feb., but hoping she’ll make it to January at least). I really want to send her something to cheer her up and keep her busy and I was looking for some ideas. I went online and many people talked about how bored they were. I don’t know if anyone went through this in our family or not, although I do remember Kay being very sick for a while so maybe you have some good suggestions.

So far I am contemplating the following things to include:

A scrapbooking Magazine & maybe some supplies (I think she told me she scrapbooks)
A soduko book or game book
Hot cocoa
Snacks (chocolate of some sort)
Burning some of my movies
Burning some Christmas music to help put her in the spirit
A pair of nice warm socks
A nice warm, soft blanket or a good pillow
Some lotion or bath stuff to relax
An eye pillow
Paper plates/plasticware so she doesn’t have to do dishes

What does everyone think? Any other ideas? I’m not sure what of the above I am going to include yet, although I am trying to keep it inexpensive since I just moved and Christmas is coming. I just want her to know she has a friend who cares and I thought this might be a nice surprise for her. Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed.

Kelly was on bedrest with Katie- she might have ideas. Addressing birth announcements, or thank you’s is a great idea. I did most of my reading while I pumped at work to force me to relax so I could get it done, but in many cases you can start a baby book (something I have yet to fill in, but collected the stuff). They want things like Grandparents names, things you do when you are pregnant, write a letter to your child, ultrasound pictures with details, shower gifts and party. This was something I just never got to and now with time on her hands she could at least get some of it done now and then fill in the blanks later. Just a thought. Best of luck. I didn’t do anything when I was out because I had an IV in my arm and wanted to sleep because it helped with the sickness (but look at how beautiful my child ended up in the long run!)

I’m sorry Erin, I didn/t look at who wrote this and assumed it was Karen. Real observant huh. Your ideas are very good tho. Good luck to her. I hope she has a computer and tv to help pass the time. Nana

She lives in NY so I cannot cook a meal for them, but I would if I was there. I would give her books, but I am not sure if she reads or not. Christmas cookies and birth announcements are a great idea though!

Does she read? Some of your books that you have already read. A book about care of a baby after they are born. Maybe some birth announcements that she could get the addresses on before hand. Cook a meal for them. How about Christmas cookies? Your ideas sound great and I’m sure she will appreciate anything. Love, Mom
