Drive for Kids…

Last night was parent orientation at my schools. During this event we hold a fund raiser called “Drive for Kids”. Chrysler donates $5.00 for every person who test drives/ rides in a car (PT Cruiser, 300, Sebring convertible). The local dealer agreed to match (up to $500.00) money raised to go toward the hurricane relief effort. We raised $650.00 for the school & $500.00 toward relief efforts. Not a bad night (just tired and my feet hurt).

This is my mad blog or rage blog… I dunno why, but I just had to rage at the incompetency. It’s pointless to point fingers of blame, and yet sitting back and watching such horrid images unfold makes you want to SCREAM!!! So bear with my rant!

"In early 2004, as the cost of the conflict in Iraq soared, President Bush proposed spending less than 20 percent of what the Corps said was needed for Lake Pontchartrain, according to a Feb. 16, 2004, article, in New Orleans CityBusiness. On June 8, 2004, Walter Maestri, emergency management chief for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana; told the Times-Picayune: "It appears that the money has been moved in the president’s budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that’s the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees can’t be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us."

I guess homeland security does not equate to any secure life after a natural disaster in the USA. I think we can partially blame "Bushitler" for both loss of life in a war that was spoon fed us on a lie as well as the thousands of deaths from the catastrophic disaster of Katrina. I wonder if Bush’s summer long vacay (which apparently he cut short by one day) got him well rested enough to get off his a$$ and show an appearance in the south? This one wasn’t terrorist related (lets go after Saddam… because He was responsible for 9/11… ha!) so I have my doubts he will get behind it with any gusto UNLESS he thinks it will improve his favorable numbers in the polls. We have four states effected by this … millions of homeless and one of the US’s MAJOR cities is now all but a desolate crime ridden cesspool of death …then add all the other countless communities that are sitting amid piles of rubble, mud, and mountain high stacked debris as their homes are leveled to the ground.

Five days after this hurricane hit we have a President that is just starting to think past his own greed as oil prices continue to sky rocket. (Any bets on how his pockets will fill up?) A whole nation is suffering and watching few come to aid those people in New Orleans or in the Mississippi cities and communities also hit by Katrina. People are dying in the streets. This is America?? When did it become a third world country??? My question is…. why did they not send in National Guard the week before this hit (knowing full well the target would most likely be New Orleans) and begin to evacuate those people? Why was the levees not secured, or the Army Corps of Engineers not there immediately after to watch them making sure there would be no breeches?? Why was Red Cross and FEMA not there IMMEDIATELY with water and food? Why were the people in hospitals not transported from New Orleans BEFORE the storm ever came?? Why does President Bush think that a pony ride on his farm more important that the huge toll on lives and the future of Americans? I am glad I voted for Senator Kerry because I will tell ya what… Bush doesn’t impress me at all, esp when he has to send two former presidents out to do what he himself should be doing. Also… when a president lies to the American public and spends trillions of dollars on a war no one wants… I will take the guy with his American longsword in a some girl’s mouth!! At least he did not cause thousands of Americans to die fighting for ….?? I forget… what are we over there fighting for?? Where is Teddy Roosevelt when you need him?

Bottom line here…. as mad as I am, and spouting angry words, I think its high time that some bureaucratic fools (including Louisiana’s state government) get their act together and try to help those people in LA and MS. If New Orleans wasn’t sinking enough before… she sure is now waiting for help!

By the way I also read something that made me go hmmmm… did ya know that Sacramento is also a city built on or below sea level with a levee system?

I sent this to La and Erin yesterday so I will share with everyone else too!

Robin William’s plan. (Hard to argue with this logic!)

I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here’s one plan.

1.) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past &present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic and the rest of those ‘good ole boys,’ We will never "interfere" again.

2.) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don’t want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in the fence.

3.) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We’ll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them.

4.) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don’t like it there, change it yourself and don’t hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don’t need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5.) No foreign "student s" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don’t attend classes, they get a "D" and it’s back home baby.

6.) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7.) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don’t like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8.) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere," They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9.) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don’t need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10.) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH…..learn it…or LEAVE…Now, isn’t that a winner of a plan.
