The Clyde-Savannah Golden Eagles moved to 21-0 on the season and senior big man Joemaine Bogan notched his 1,000th carrier point as C-S rolled over Caledonia-Mumford, 74-47, en route to their second straight Sectional Championship on Saturday afternoon at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY.
After a sloppy start, Clyde pulled it together and never looked back scoring points in transition, off put-put backs, and via jump shots from all over the court while limiting Cal-Mum to just 20 first half points.
Senior Kam DiSanto returned to action after missing Clyde’s semifinal game against Lyons on Monday and looked to be close to 100% scoring 15 points on 7-11 shooting and pulling down 10 reBounds.
The stellar play of guard Joe Faniel continued in the Big House as the senior led all scorers with 23 points on 9-12 shooting including 3-5 from beyond the arc.
Bogan added 22 points on 10-17 shooting, more than half coming in the second half to go along with 3 assists and 4 rebounds.
Also for Clyde, Michael Turner was everywhere on the big court at the Blue Cross arena blocking 2 shots, pulling down 11 boards, and scoring 8 points. Senior Jason Doig dished out 6 assists in the win.
Clyde-Savannah shot an impressive 57%, 64% in the second half, to overwhelm the champions from Livingston County division II whose season ends at 19-2. Kurtis Haut led the scoring for the Red Raiders with 13 while Will Van Auken had 12.
Clyde-Savannah’s defense was perhaps the most impressive part of their victory as they held Cal-Mum to just 29% shooting on the afternoon.
Clyde-Savannah captures the Section V C2 Championship and will move on to face Bloomfield, the C1 Champs out of the FL West on Wednesday night in the Class C State qualifying round.
