Chicago Hot Dog…

The original is an all-beef wiener made by Chicago’s Vienna Beef on a steamed poppyseed bun, dressed with mustard, neon green relish, onion, tomato, a pickle spear, sport peppers and celery salt. I had this the other night and it was very good- they people who made them went to Chicago for the fixins- poppy seed buns are great and sports peppers added a very nice flavor. Who would have thought a hot dog could be gourmet?

Peppers resemble Tabasco peppers, but the Sport pepper is larger, about 1-1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. They are medium-hot and are packed in vinegar.

What are sport peppers? Never heard of them. Sounds yummy. I like Southern Dogs and my new concoction, the Rueben Dog.
