Cafe Du Monde

My mom and I were reminiscing about New Orleans and thinking how lucky we were to see it. We started to wonder about Cafe Du monde, which has been there forever (100+ years).

I found some history on their site:
The French Market building was put up by the Spanish in 1771. This building was destroyed by a hurricane in 1812. The following year it was replaced by the building which now houses the Cafe Du Monde.

I wonder if this is so again and will need to be rebuilt. I found this on their website and my mom and I thought it was kinda funny:
The Cafe is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It closes only on Christmas Day and on the day an occasional Hurricane passes too close to New Orleans.

Hmmm, I think they were closed.

I don’t notice the pictures of you all waisted in New Orleans… Now that’s remembering it the way it should be…

I know, but isn’t that funny that they have that on their front page? It made us laugh… not for the destruction, but the truth of it.
