Busy doesn’t do it justice…

We had an incredible summer- we accomplished more than we ever dreamed possible and lived through some projects we cursed ourselves for doing. The last couple were not bad because we finally hired Carlos who did reasonably priced, high quality work in the time he stated. He are some of the house projects we worked on:

The biggest pain was scrapping the ceiling. It all started with the stain, bad knock down, poor paint job but finally a clean ceiling along with a new ceiling fan to replace the can light. Through this process the painter ripped off the paint along every wall so they had to be repainted. To make matters worse- when we went to match paints- they didn’t so we ended up repainting LOTS (9 rooms) of walls and the whole ceiling. Another light we replaced were the 2 cans in the livingroom. Then we found Carlos because we needed a retaining wall. This was one task Linda and I could not do. This also included a wall behind the barn. When the walls were done and the gravel moved, Linda did the mulch and it looks great. We then moved to the garden because the railroad ties were starting to rot- nice new wall. We liked Carlos so much we decided to redo the ceilings in Linda’s room and bathroom- no more popcorn! He also redid the shower– built a new tile shower and floor. The last task he did was to frame around the skylights. We will get the new shades this Friday. We also put new carpet in Linda’s bedroom, put in an attic fan, had to replace a panel of my shower which was replaced about a year ago and fix the soffit in the kitchen which cracked. So I look forward to fall and winter were you can hibernate and rest and enjoy a little!

We are finishing up Linda’s room this weekend and hosting a dinner party next weekend. Kris helped me pick out several wines! It is an Italian feast with 3 co-workers and Linda- can’t wait!

Holy crow! Thats a lot of work… we feel your pain! Every time we think we are close, we look again and realize we are years away. I guess that happens when you own a home. I’m glad that you guys found a contractor that you like. We need to talk to our neighbor who owns a business and see if we can get some stuff done (of course that requires money though). Anyway, your house looks beautiful and all that hard work pays off in the end. Now go get some wine, sit down and enjoy it!

Stop posting these- you make me feel like I get nothing done (haha). I think it is great that you have pictures of all this. We never do that and I always feel bad because when I look at all that we have done to our house (mostly Bob) it would be amazing to see how far we have come! I think you better take some time for yourselfs and do some Chillaxing!
