Barbara E. Arnitz…

CLYDE – Mrs. Barbara E. Arnitz, 72, of 111 Wayne Ave, died unexpectedly Monday (February 6, 2012) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday (February 9th) from 4to 7 p.m. at the Baris Funeral Home 87 W. Genesee St. Clyde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (February 10th) at 11:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church with Rev. Augustine Chumo officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Clyde.
Memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 245, Clyde, N.Y. 14433 or to the Humane Society of Wayne County, 1475 County House Rd., Lyons, N.Y. 14489 would be appreciated.
Barbara was born on March 22, 1939, the daughter of Dr. Richard E. and Mary Norton Gibbons. She was a life-long resident of Clyde and member of St. John’s Church. Barb was retired from the Transportation Dept of Clyde- Savannah Central School where she had driven school bus for many years and worked in the cafeteria. She had participated in numerous school bus rodeos, was a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America (Gleason Court) and enjoyed both interior decorating and shopping. Barb’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters Maureen (David) Gasbarro of Newark, Sharon (Mike) DeRenzo of Clyde and Mariellen (Tom) Viola of Webster; her sons Mark (Donna) Arnitz of Newark and Gus Paul Arnitz of Clyde; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; her brother Edward (Sue) Gibbons of Smithfield, RI.; a son-in-law Dan DeLisio of Clyde and a daughter-in-law Jamie Arnitz of Wolcott.; many nieces,nephews and friends
Besides her parents, Barbara was pre-deceased by her loving husband of over 49 years, Gus A. Arnitz Jr., and her brother Richard Gibbons.
Please keep Nana in your prayers. Barb was one of her weekly dinner friends. This groupĀ (Helen, Paula, Barb and Sylvia) went out to eat every week to laugh, spend time together, share stories and keep each other company. It will be a large loss felt by all. So if you see Nana, give her a big hug and tell her how much you love her.
