Meet Carla.  She is our new car.  We love her.  We set out on Saturday to look for a new car.  A guy named Carlos sold her to us.  We were his very first car sale so we named her after him.  She is a 2015 Ford Escape.

Hi Everyone,

There have been suggestions, ideas, and conversation on Christmas next year. I wanted to offer a few suggestions that I hope may add a renewed spirit to our holidays. I think money issues and shipping costs have added to the idea of doing away with gifts for the adults, However, I think if we eliminate this tradition we will lose a lot of the Christmas spirit. (Not so much for the getting of a gift, but the excitement we all feel of giving.)

I would like to see us all attend Mom and Dad’s on Christmas day, but perhaps we can have it a little later in the day. This allows us all to enjoy more of our Christmas morning with our own families and yet celebrate with each other as well. I also find I do not get hungry at 1 pm as we have a Christmas morning breakfast at our home. I would like to see us move to a more informal dinner and move to appetizers or a later repast of soup and bread and things we can all contribute to. This takes a lot of the work and cost off Mom. We do a Christmas Eve dinner of clam chowder, or fish chowder, homemade bread, and an antipasto, but I would be willing to do something else on Christmas Eve for after mass enjoyment. Maybe we can all take turns bringing the main dish, dessert, libation, (wine or a yummy holiday drink like eggnog martinis.) Kay and Bob do great Christmas cookies so maybe they can bring those as dessert. Maybe the Culver’s can bring an antipasto or a shrimp platter etc. There are lots of yummy appetizer recipes that should be easy ones to whip up. All we need to do is coordinate with Mom and maybe this becomes our gifts to each other. For those who are not able to come home we need to find less expensive ideas for them to help with shipping costs. A lot of us have annual gifts we give every year, so maybe we can continue this but maybe add fun twists to our gifts like your gift has to fit in a mason jar!! (Any size mason!) (This would not work for Lala and Beth and Dee….hmmmm)

The day after Christmas has fallen by the wayside the past couple years and it is one I look so forward to. Most of us have outgrown the after Xmas. sales but we can still have lunch together at Biaggi’s. Let’s set a time to meet and if you want to shop just meet the gang at a reserved time.

My family has done some things the past few years that we enjoy and wish to share with the family. We do an evening to go see Christmas lights. We pack a thermos of hot beverage and enjoy a night of awe-inspiring lights! Syracuse has it’s Lights on the Lake. We could take a few cars, pack some goodies and go see them! We also find a house to go see it’s décor for the holidays. The first year we visited the Biltmore. I am sure we can find a place to visit like Sonnenberg Gardens or maybe we can spend an afternoon in Skaneateles. (Maybe the Eastman House.) I am sure there are other places in our area we can find to visit.

I think we have all gotten too caught up with time issues (or lack there of.) Maybe we need to find the joy in simple things like baking Christmas cookies together and sharing liqueur coffee drinks and Christmas music… or spending time together playing games. Maybe we can start a weekend we shop together and then stop to get a seasonal latte at Starbucks. Please give it some thought and share suggestions to help make it a simpler holiday and less stressed out one. If we look ahead at our calendars maybe it will allow us to peg in priority time for family fun.

Happy Holiday 2016!!

Hi Everyone. C was supposed to post this, but he fell asleep, and not sure how best to handle this. So, I am taking a stab at it. He fell at work (in early May) off a ten foot ladder and got some staples in his head. They did a CT scan and found that his head was fine but discovered clusters in the lymph nodes in his neck they wanted to have immediately checked. He was all ready to have this surgery done in June, but they postponed it due to the fact the doctor could not feel the swollen nodes. (Sigh of relief!) They did another scan to find they were still there and possibly slightly enlarged. Last Wednesday they did a biopsy, and took out two nodes. We went to the Doctor today and they found that he has Low grade Lymphoma and specifically CLL. (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.) We were told it is chronic therefore no cure, but the prognosis is usually good. We are hoping we caught it early. They do not know how long he has had this. It is a slow growing “lazy” cancer. We are in the early stage of this, and will know more next Tuesday when we get the results of the new blood work and scans that he had done today. He had dyes that will identify the markers. They are looking to see if the white cell count is up, if any other lymph nodes are affected, if spleen is enlarged, and they will finally do a bone marrow test. It sounds worse than it probably is. As I said, they say it is slow growing, and many times they just watch it and do not even treat with medications. We do not yet know if that is the case with Clark. We have not been given a stage of his CLL, and he and I are just trying to learn all we can about CLL. Everyone will probably have many questions. We will try to answer them as we gain information. I ask for your prayers and love for him. We think it’s going to be okay, and we are VERY positive and optimistic.

UPDATE: cancer is stage 1 and slow growing, no other swollen lymph nodes… they are doing nothing to treat it, just monitoring his blood count to watch his bone marrow degradation.

Hi Everyone!

Now that the hustle and bustle of the holiday and New Year has subsided, we were able to sit down this weekend and enjoy one of the DVDs that we received for Christmas. If you do not have Sea Biscuit I recommend that you rent or preferably buy it! It is such a great movie, and leaves you with a smile and wonderful message. This is a movie I wish we had gone to see at the theater. On a star rating of 1 to five stars, I give it a 5 stars and a thumbs up!

On a different note…
Sue? Where’s Kelsie? You hogging her all to yourself?? Hurry up would ya! ~gringringrin~

This just made me laugh so hard!!

Dear Abby,

My husband is a liar and a cheat.
He has cheated on me from the beginning..
When I confront him, he denies everything.
What’s worse is everyone knows he cheats on me.
It is so humiliating!

Since he lost his job threewo years ago he hasn’t
even looked for a new one. All he does is sit
around the living room in his underwear and
watch TV while I work to pay the bills.

Since our daughter went away to college he
doesn’t even pretend to like me.

He keeps calling me a lesbian.
What should I do?

Dear Clueless,

Dump him. You’re a New York senator now.
You don’t need him anymore.

Well I did add the link but its not there so let’s try again!

My buddy Donna’s daughter was selected to be a poster girl! Katie has two billboards in Wayne Co. One on Rt.31 near Wal-Mart and one on Rt 104, is on the Wayne ARC website and has promos in the Newark threatre. How’s that for being a super star! Go Katie!
