I sustain myself with the love of friends and family.
— Maya Angelou

While few things in life are certain, our friends and family are the people whose love and trust we can count on to provide security, reassurance, and lasting love.

They are the people we turn to when we want to laugh and share the good things in life… and the people we turn to when we need comfort and support.

Friends and family not only sustain us, but their love shapes who we are and how we view the world.

Let us honor and celebrate our family and friends, strengthening the precious ties that keep them close.

Determine to live life with flair and laughter.
— Maya Angelou

Each day is a gift. Every day, we find we have more to teach and to learn, more love to give and receive, more opportunities to live life to its fullest, and more of ourselves to share with those we care about most.

Celebrating life’s joys and responding to life’s challenges allows us to find new ways every day to make connections with family and friends, to share joys, to dream new dreams and to renew and refresh the spirit.

So let us celebrate life like the gift it truly is…each day.

I continue to invent myself every day.
— Maya Angelou

Each day holds new beginnings….in the gleeful smiles of a baby discovering the wonders of the world, in the eyes of those who promise to love and to cherish, in the celebration of another year…another sunrise…another breath. New beginnings bring joy.

New beginnings can be found in the tides of courage that drive us forward to new jobs, new homes, new chapters of life – and in the trust we place in the arms of those who hold us up when that courage ebbs. New beginnings offer hope.

Each day gives us a new opportunity to discover the art of living…and to create our own masterpiece.

The painting continues…we changed the {{popup redwall.JPG redwall 640×480}}terra-cotta wall
to a lighter verson with texture (and we finally stained the trim around the glass blocks). It now looks like{{popup pinkwall.JPG pinkwall 640×480}}this.Linda changed the light fixture in the upstairs room- we went from old florescent to a hologen track light. This week we get the heater put in so we can house guests in cold weather. We hope to paint the skylight trim and install the window blind. Linda spent most of this weekend weeding, tying up tomatoes, staining furniture and a million other things- I worked on my class(oh did I have fun!).

Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service to our country. It began during the Civil War when organized women’s groups in several towns throughout the South decorated the graves of the Confederate war dead with flowers, wreaths and flags. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5th, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on May 30, 1868.
To remember the true meaning of this day:
-visit cemeteries and place flags or flowers on the graves of our fallen heroes.
-visit memorials.
-fly the US Flag at half-staff until noon.
-fly the ‘POW/MIA Flag’ as well (Section 1082 of the 1998 Defense Authorization Act).
-participate in a “National Moment of Remembrance”: at 3 p.m. to pause and think upon the true meaning of the day, and for Taps to be played.
-renew a pledge to aid the widows, widowers, and orphans of our falled dead, and to aid the disabled veterans.

to New York! I arrive July 2 and leave July 6 but it is once again time for a baby fix (Delaney get those cheeks ready)and a family fix- bring on the party!

Check out the photo page…these are just so the page has something- need new photos from people.
Ok-so I was a little grumpy (just looked at a picture of Delaney and how can you stay grumpy after that smile!) and I will still be ridden with guilt if I don’t post a birthday but it would be nice if others had as much fun as I..please share and post!

Well Erin suggested I put birthdays on the sidebar so-here they are. Please let me know if I made any mistakes (so many dates and people it is easy to confuse) also if you like. Any ideas- let me know, if it is in my capacity of learning- I’ll try and get it up! Thanks Erin for the idea- I know I can use all the help I can in remembering!

We just wanted to let everyone know that there will be a new DiSanto in this world around the first of the year! We were totally caught by surprise. So we will have a Christmas baby and a New Year’s baby! Kam is so happy, he just hopes the baby won’t get into his Yu-Gi-Oh collection. It was impossible to get everyone by phone and our apologies but I have to work tonight at Wayne Hills.

When those bones get to aching- Linda and I will get to soaking in this hot tub (minus the fan screen). There is a company here in KC that makes them on-site. Ours is called Montego Bay (will take real pictures when we get it). It takes about 4 weeks before we get it- we are placing it out front on the concrete (about 2 steps from the door which will be nice in winter) plus the house will block the North wind. Anyone up for a spa party?

As you can see I designed a new header for the page- pictures will now be added to the photo page. I am looking for a name for the page…right now I just called it Simple Things but can change it to what ever. Any ideas?
Also there is room down the sidebar- any ideas there?
Let’s personalize this baby!

Well the yellow wall went away- after we painted the otherside “spitfire” it just didn’t go well so we painted this one spitfire too! The picture washes the color out some- it has a darker cream color with a suede texture to it.

blind (59k image)

They are finally here! The new blinds got installed this morning- they are Hunter Douglas blinds that come up from the bottom or drop from the top. What a difference they make. Good-bye quilts. It took Linda and I working everyday for a week to redo all the woodwork, insulate behind the boards, paint the walls but the finally result was worth it- picture does not do it justice.
